More Gunshots Fired In Joliet Neighborhood, 1 Shooting Victim Taken To Silver Cross

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has issued a press release related to Tuesday evening's shooting incident on the east side of town. One person who suffered gunshot wounds was taken in a private vehicle, rather than by an ambulance, to Silver Cross Hospital.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that at 6:46 p.m., the officers responded to the 500 block of Francis Street for shots fired. The officers discovered evidence of a shooting, locating numerous spent shell casings in the area. During a canvass of the area, the officers learned that a nearby house had been struck by gunfire.

No victims were located at the scene and no injuries were reported.

However, while at the scene, the officers were notified that a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound arrived at the emergency room at Silver Cross Hospital by private vehicle. The man was uncooperative and refused to provide information. At this time, it is unknown if the shots fired in the 500 block of Francis Street and the shooting victim at the hospital are related, English pointed out.
