MorningStar Mission Arrests, Victim Chased By 2 Men With Knives: JPD

A short time later, Joliet police officers located Murry and Ramey in the 400 block of Cass Street and placed them both into custody.

JOLIET — A pair of men at the MorningStar Mission were arrested on Friday after Joliet police say they were each armed with knives and chasing after someone they were trying to harm.

According to the arrest reports, 37-year-old Ervin Murry of Joliet and 39-year-old Darren Ramey of Hazel Crest were arrested and released on a notice to appear in Will County court for the crime of aggravated assault. Murry ended up in the Will County Jail for having an outstanding Will County arrest warrant.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events unfolded on Friday, leading to the eventual capture and arrests of Murry and Ramey:

At 12:45 p.m., the officers responded to MorningStar Mission at 364 East Washington Street for a report of two men chasing another men with a knife. The officers learned that Murry and Ramey had an argument with another male. It is believed they walked outside, and Murry and Ramey allegedly chased after the victim while both were holding knives.

The victim escaped back into the building. A short time later, the Joliet police fficers located Murry and Ramey in the 400 block of Cass Street and placed them both into custody. Officers recovered a knife from Murry following a search. It was determined Murry held an active arrest Will County arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous domestic battery charges.
