New Joliet Restaurant Alert: Fry The Coop Opening Soon

JOLIET — Joliet's busiest thoroughfare, West Jefferson Street, will become the next location for the Fry The Coop fast-food restaurant franchise. Fry The Coop will be taking over the restaurant storefront previously occupied by Mooyah Burgers and Fries at 2611 West Jefferson Street. Mooyah, after 10 years in Joliet, recently closed its location in the brick storefront shared by Potbelly Sandwich Shop Sandwiches and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

According to the Fry The Coop website, there are several Fry The Coop restaurant locations already operating in the Chicago area including restaurants in Oak Lawn, Prospect Heights, Darien, Tinley Park, Bolingbrook, Lincoln Park, Portage Park, West Town and Elmhurst.

"Yes, our chicken is 100 percent Halal certified," the Fry The Coop website explained. "However, we fry all our chicken and fries in beef fat. Unfortunately, that beef fat is not Halal. Currently, Halal certified beef fat does not exist in large quantities for restaurants. We have looked everywhere! When it is accessible, we will make it happen, but that may not be for 2-5 years."
