New Year's Day Fire In Joliet Sends 2 People To The Hospital
The scene was declared under control at 9:30 a.m., according to Battalion Chief James Ryan.

JOLIET — Joliet's first fire of 2025 happened at 6 a.m. on New Year's Day, and two people were taken to the hospital.
According to Joliet Fire Battalion Chief James Ryan:
The Joliet Fire Department responded to 5 Remin Lane for a structure fire. The first units arrived within 5 minutes of the call. The crews found heavy fire from three sides of the structure. Residents were asleep at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate the structure prior to fire department arrival.

Responding crews went into a defensive attack.

Two victims were transported to local hospitals, but due to privacy laws, specific hospitals cannot be given, Ryan noted.
Fire crews from stations 1,3,4,5, East Joliet, Manhattan and New Lennox were on scene.
