Nurse Punched in Jaw By Spitting Mad Patient: Cops

The Joliet woman allegedly spat on two nurses and a police officer.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet woman allegedly punched a nurse in the jaw, then spat on him, another nurse and a police officer.

Laqundra Archer, 23, who was fitted with a spit hood after her arrest early Monday morning, was kind enough to warn an officer that she “would spit in his face again if given the chance,” police said.

Archer was waiting to be treated at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center shortly after 1 a.m. when she grew agitated and tried to walk behind a nurses’ station, police said.

A 60-year-old male nurse and a 43-year-old female nurse stopped Archer, police said, and she responded by punching the man in the jaw, spitting in his hair and spitting in the woman’s hair as well.

Hospital security restrained Archer long enough for the law to arrive. When they did, she allegedly tried to spit in a police officer’s face but just got him in the back of the neck.

Archer reportedly declined medical attention and “said she wanted to go to jail,” which is where she went.
