Dan valued his Irish heritage and Catholic faith, and was a staunch Democrat. His favorite teams were the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers, the Chicago White Sox, and whatever team covers the spread. He liked to golf, play gin rummy, go to the dog track and gamble.

In lieu of services, Dan urged friends and family to have a shot of Irish whiskey, a beer and a toast to a life well lived.
