Obituary: Gena McCarthy

Gena McCarthy passed away Jan. 17 in Joliet.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Kim) McCarthy, Meagan (Bret) Olsen and Shannon (Joseph) Antinori; grandchildren Kate and Ally McCarthy and Griffin and Owen Olsen; and many friends.

Preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Terry McCarthy; parents Josephine and Alvin Clapp; and aunts Rose Chauko, Catherine Chauko and Mary Novitski.

Gena was a lifelong Joliet resident and graduate of St. Francis Academy. She worked at Joliet Catholic Academy. Gena loved reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the Cathedral of St. Raymond, 604 N. Raynor Avenue in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are appreciated.
