Shorewood School’s Ma Spa Pampers Mothers

Students also spent special time with their mothers or guardians to read them their autobiographies they fashioned over the school year.

From Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C:

SHOREWOOD, IL — Mothers of Troy Shorewood Elementary School’s second grade students got a lot of pampering during the school’s “Ma Spa,” held the week before Mother’s Day.

Their children thanked them for all the love and encouragement their mothers have given them by taking them through pampering stations, where the students painted their mothers’ nails, gave them massages, did their hair and makeup, made them picture frames and had fun photos taken of the two of them.

Samantha Dippold’s son Leland Dippold got to paint his mother’s fingernails for the first time. He chose the color, which he said he thought was pink, but looked orange going on.

“It’s wonderful,” said Jana Potter, Abbey Potter’s mother, who was getting her nails done by her daughter. “Purple’s my favorite color. She did good. She knows her mother.”

It was the second day of a four-day Mother’s Day celebration for Lisa Marie Raucci, whose son Joe Ferreti-Raucci was giving her a nice hand massage.

“Last night, we had a treasure hunt,” he said.

Troy Shorewood teacher Michelle McCabe said it was an exciting day, filled with laughter, hugs and kisses and some happy tears.
