Sickened School Kids Took Xanax: Cops

The two Joliet West High School students reportedly received medical treatment.

JOLIET, IL — The two Joliet West High School students sickened last week after ingesting a mysterious “unknown substance” had taken Xanax, police said.

"Two students received medical treatment due to ingesting an unknown substance," the school district said in a message sent to parents Wednesday. "Joliet West High School would like to take the opportunity to ask parents to talk to their students about taking, purchasing, or using unknown or illegal substances."

A high school district spokeswoman said last week she could not disclose whether or not the students were hospitalized, or if they told where or from whom they obtained the unidentified "substance."
