Skechers In Joliet Draws Police Response, Arrest Made

As the officer attempted to arrest Anthony Sago, he tensed his arms in order to prevent being placed into handcuffs, Joliet police advised.

JOLIET — A 31-year-old man out of Chicago, Anthony Sago, was arrested by the Joliet police force on Sunday afternoon at a Larkin Avenue business. Sago was taken away in handcuffs on charges of criminal trespass, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events led to the Chicago man's capture at the Skechers store:

At 3:43 p.m., the officers responded to the Skechers at 1490 North Larkin Avenue for an unwanted man on the premises.

Upon arrival, the officers learned that Sago had ignored a request from store employees to leave the store. Sago was suspected of approaching multiple store customers and requesting that they purchase merchandise for him. Officers located Sago at the entrance of the store. Sago initially refused to provide his name. As an officer attempted to arrest Sago, he tensed his arms in order to prevent being placed into handcuffs. Officers were eventually able to place Sago into custody without further incident.
