Sleeping Man Beaten In Bedroom By Angry Co-Worker: Cops

The beaten man explained that he had not been getting along at work with his attacker, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man woke up in his bedroom to a co-worker punching him and clubbing him with the handle of a knife, police said.

The 33-year-old man reportedly said he was rudely awakened in his Jessie Street home about 3 a.m. Sunday. HIs attacker, Jose Sandoval, 35, not only punched the man and beat him with the handle of his knife, police said, but also threatened him while holding the blade to his throat, and then stole his cash and cell phone.

The beaten man did not call the cops for another six and a half hours or so, police said.

Deputies tracked down Sandoval later in the day. He was taken into custody on a Will County warrant charging him with violating an order of protection obtained in 2015 by a 28-year-old woman.

Sandoval was then “questioned by detectives and charged with home invasion and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon,” police said.
