Spilled Hot Tea Injured Woman in Starbucks Drive-Thru: Lawsuit

The woman is suing Starbucks.

JOLIET, IL — A woman was injured by hot tea that spilled onto her in a Starbucks drive-thru, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Sandra Dominguez is suing Starbucks over the allegedly spilled tea that left her injured in body and mind, as well as permanently disfigured and scarred, the lawsuit said.

Dominguez was injured by the hot tea in February 2016, the suit said. This allegedly happened at a Starbucks on South Bolingbrook Drive.

Starbucks is to blame for this because its workers failed to inspect or maintain the teacup, serve the tea at a “reasonable temperature,” “provide a structurally sound teacup” or properly seal the cup’s lid, among other things, according to the lawsuit.
