After Stabbing On Broadway, Defendant Attacks Officer At Hospital: Joliet Police
Officers learned that Ranisha La Cruze allegedly arrived and attacked her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend, police said.

JOLIET — A 34-year-old woman was taken to the Will County Jail following a recent stabbing and the case has resulted in criminal charges of aggravated battery, aggravated battery to a police officer, domestic battery, battery and criminal damage to property.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events resulted in Friday night's arrest of Ranisha La Cruze.
According to English, at 10:47 p.m., officers working a special assignment detail at Riverwalk Homes were notified of a disturbance in front of 366 N. Broadway St.

Officers learned that La Cruze arrived and attacked her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend, English said. Police say that as the victims were out in front of the building, La Cruze arrived and began a disturbance.
La Cruze then approached the female and punched her in the face, police said. The male intervened and attempted to walk the female victim into the building, at which time police say La Cruze stabbed the male’s right shoulder with an unknown object, according to English.

Following the attack, police said La Cruze broke a window to the victim’s apartment, cutting her hand in the process, police advised. Officers placed La Cruze into custody, and she was taken to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department for treatment of the injury to her hand.
The male victim was taken to Silver Cross hospital for treatment of his injury.
While at the hospital, La Cruze caused a disturbance and kicked an officer in the chest, English said.
La Cruze was released from the hospital on Saturday afternoon, and she was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
