Girl Stabbed In Street Fight, Morris Police Arrest 17-Year-Old: Cops

The stabbing happened Thursday after the teenage girls, ages 17 and 18, met to fight, police revealed.

MORRIS —The Morris Police Department issued a Facebook announcement on Thursday night revealing that an 18-year-old teenage girl is hospitalized in stable condition after being stabbed during a street fight with a 17-year-old girl. The violence happened just before 6 p.m. in the 200 block of Waverly Street, police said.

According to authorities, the 18-year-old girl, after being stabbed, managed to walk to the nearby Morris Hospital, the police revealed. The 17-year-old stabbing suspect managed to get a ride away from the scene of her crime, police said. However, the 17-year-old criminal defendant later went to the downtown police station and turned herself in, Morris police said.

The two teenage girls met on Waverly Street and during the fight, the 17-year-old stabbed the 18-year-old girl with a knife, Morris police said.

The victim remains under treatment at the Morris Hospital in stable condition, while the 17-year-old is being charged as a juvenile with two crimes of aggravated battery. She was taken to the LaSalle County Juvenile Detention Center, authorities said.
