JOLIET, IL — Three weeks after the Shorewood police force arrested former Plano resident Clinton Anders twice on the same day, Joliet police also made two more arrests of the 46-year-old over the weekend.

First, on Saturday, at 8:18 p.m., the Joliet police officers responded to an office building at 2000 Glenwood Avenue for a report of an intoxicated man outside the building. Officers found Anders outside the building, and he appeared intoxicated and was in possession of an open bottle of vodka, his arrest report showed.

"Anders grew angry with officers when they told him he was going to receive a ticket for the open alcohol," police spokesman Dwayne English said.

He said that because Anders ignored the officers' commands to leave the property, he was placed into custody on charges of obstructing a peace officer and released on a notice to appear in court. Anders was also given a city ordinance violation for possession of alcohol in the exterior portion of business.

As for Anders' second arrest by the Joliet police, that happened on Sunday afternoon.

At 12:31 p.m., the officers responded to Walmart, 2424 W. Jefferson St., for a retail theft. A man later identified as Clinton Anders entered the store and stole merchandise nearly totaling $100 and then left the store without purchasing the items, English noted.

After Anders exited Walmart, he walked into Menards next door, 2524 W. Jefferson St., and stole a hunting knife valued at over $70 and exited the store without paying, English advised.

Officers caught up to Anders in the parking lot, where police say he ignored their commands and kept walking. Anders was eventually captured and charged with two counts of felony retail theft and one count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer, stemming from theft from both stores.

Anders was processed and released on a notice to appear, Joliet police said.
