Man At Joliet Bar Taken To Jail After Scuffle: Joliet Police

Armando Zuniga-Lopez fell to the ground and slapped the Joliet officer's hands away as they attempted to arrest him, arrest reports show.

JOLIET — A 45-year-old Lockport citizen was booked into the Will County Jail over the weekend after Joliet police arrested Armando Zuniga-Lopez at the Los Tres Hermandos bar at 670 East Jackson Street in connection with allegations of intoxication and violent behavior.

The Lockport man faces criminal charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault to a peace officer, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and obstructing justice.

Joliet police say the Lockport man's arrest happened on Saturday afternoon.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:45 p.m., the officers responded to Los Tres Hermanos bar on East Jackson due to an intoxicated patron refusing to leave the bar.

Officers met with Zuniga-Lopez, who appeared intoxicated, and escorted him from the bar. While outside the bar, Zuniga-Lopez grew angry and aggressively approached an officer with his arms extended, English said.

After Zuniga-Lopez fell to the ground, police say he slapped an officer’s hands away as they attempted to place him into custody. After he was secured, officials said, Zuniga-Lopez kicked an officer in the legs as they were placing him in the squad car.

According to English, Zuniga-Lopez refused to cooperate with booking procedures and was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
