Unidentified Pedestrian Killed By Train In Wilmington: Coroner

Wilmington police reported the crash Thursday night. Her identity is being withheld pending positive ID.

WILMINGTON, IL — An unidentified female was killed Thursday evening when she was struck by a train at a crossing near the intersection of North Kankakee Street and Chicago Street in Wilmington, the Will County Coroner's office reported.

Wilmington police reported the collision just after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, asking residents to avoid the area and urging motorists to find an alternate route.

The female victim was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. at the scene.

On Friday, the coroner's office said her name is being withheld pending positive identification.

An autopsy performed Friday determined the pedestrian suffered multiple injuries after being hit by a train.
