Video Recording Device Hidden In Young Woman's Bedroom, Arrest Made: Joliet Police

Joliet police detectives said they interviewed Jose Rendon who confirmed that he recorded the victim without her consent.

JOLIET — A 22-year-old Crest Hill resident, Jose Rendon, was booked into the Will County Jail shortly before midnight on Tuesday after surrendering to the Joliet police force in connection with his four criminal charges of unauthorized video recording and live video transmission.

Joliet Patch broke the news surrounding Rendon's arrest warrant on Tuesday and by nighttime, he turned himself in to the police.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the investigation involving Rendon goes back to last summer.

On July 25, 2024, the Joliet Police Department was notified by a woman that she had located a video recording device hidden in her bedroom. Officers learned that Rendon was a past boyfriend of the victim, and that Rendon owned the device and had allegedly recorded the victim without her consent, English noted.

Detectives interviewed Rendon who confirmed that he recorded the victim without her consent, English indicated in Wednesday's press release.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Monday and Rendon was placed into custody on Tuesday, after turning himself in at the Joliet Police Department. Rendon was processed and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
