Joliet's police officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Spring Leaf Drive for a report of a person shot.

JOLIET — A Christmas Eve gathering involving relatives on the city's west side resulted in a 27-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her left calf, and 26-year-old Arties Titus was hauled off to the Will County Jail after he punched his 25-year-old sister in the face, Joliet police said.
Joliet police said that Titus spent his Christmas Day in the Will County Jail, where he's facing domestic battery charges plus an outstanding Will County arrest warrant.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, around 9:40 p.m. on Christmas Eve, officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Spring Leaf Drive for a person shot. Police say they believe the shooting took place during a disturbance in the garage between family members, and the victim may have not been the intended target.
"The victim did not wish to cooperate further after providing an initial statement to officers," English said.
As for the arrest of Titus, English said that while the officers were conducting the shooting investigation, numerous family members continued to create a disturbance amongst themselves.
Titus was placed into custody after he punched his 25-year-old sister in the face while in the presence of the officers, according to police. Officers learned Titus also held an active Will County arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous disorderly conduct charges.
