World Trade Center Beam Procession Coming to Area Friday
Hundreds of service authorities, VFWs, Patriot Guard riders and veterans will spend days escorting a piece of American history across the country along Interstate 80 westbound from New York to Colorado. The procession will pass through the south suburbs on Friday around 9 a.m. Police and fire from Frankfort, Mokena, and Tinley Park will form an honor guard at overpasses at LaGrange Road and Harlem Avenue, complete with a flag draped above the remnant as it passes below. >>Read all about the procession before it gets here Friday
Texting, Speeding Suspected in Crash that Killed 1, Critically Injured 2
One man is dead and two others were critically injured in a crash in south suburban Harvey. Three men in their 20s were inside the car, and all were trapped. Police said speeding and distracted driving may have caused the crash. >>Find out more about the terrible crash
Man Shot by Police Faces Attempted Murder Charge
- A butter knife-wielding Crystal Lake man was charged with attempted murder after he was shot by the police.
Man Stole Coins from Fountain, Wanted to Buy Coffee
- A Wheaton man stole the coins from a downtown Elmhurst fountain so he could buy a cup of coffee, police said.
