Get Hungry Tonight: Wild Monk Hosts Southern Tier Beer Dinner
La Grange gastropub Wild Monk teams up with Southern Tier Beer this month for a five-course meal.

, teams up with Southern Tier Brewing Company tonight for a special five-course menu that pairs beers with bites.
Last month's dinner featuring Wild Monk's food paired with Goose Island Brew Company's beer sold out, but there are still tickets available for tonight's meal for $60 a plate.
"People might not be as familiar with Southern Tier," owner Jim Maglaris said.

Guests will begin the night at 6 p.m. with an Old Man Winter reception beer to start things off, followed by a five-course menu designed by chef Riley Huddleston that will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Guests begin the meal with a kumquat salad and rye crisp washed down with a Phin & Matt, an American pale ale style brew that's 5.7 percent alcohol by volume. Following courses feature menu items like curried prawns, smoked salmon and crispy pork, all paired with a wide range of Southern Tier beers.

"It's a good chance for people to sample," said Maglaris.
Wild Monk will be continuing the program with a new prix fixe menu paired with beers from a different brewer each month.
About Southern Tier
According to the company's website, Southern Tier has been producing beer since 2002 and now makes about 50,000 barrels of beer a year. Based in Lakewood, NY, the brewer has won several awards since it opened production. In 2010, their India Pale Ale was ranked in Wine Enthusiast magazine's seven best beers list. In October 2011, Chicagoist named their Pumpkin Ale "Beer of the Week."
