A severe accident on the Stevenson Expressway involving five cars shut down the inbound lanes near Central Avenue for an hour Thursday as the evening commute got under way. The accident took place around 4 p.m. All inbound lanes were closed until State Police began opening them at 5 p.m.

One person was reportedly injured and taken away by ambulance, reports WGN. ABC Chicago reports two people suffered minor injuries.The traffic in the outbound lanes is severely delayed due to gaper’s block. Delays stretch from First Avenue to La Grange Road.
