I-294 Ramp to I-290 to Close Nov. 20
Detour will route traffic south on I-294 and east on I-290, where drivers will be directed to exit at Mannheim Road. Ramp to reopen at 5 a.m. Nov. 21.
The southbound I-294 exit ramp that carries traffic to westbound I-290 in Elmhurst will close at midnight Wednesday, Nov. 20 for repairs and reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, according to a news release from the Illinois Tollway.
The detour will route traffic south on I-294 and then east on I-290, where drivers will be directed to exit at Mannheim Road (Illinois Route 12) north, then re-enter via the westbound I-290 entrance ramp, according to the release.
"A full closure is necessary to complete repairs because the bridge is not wide enough to accommodate a work zone while maintaining traffic," the release reads.
