Lorna Shaw Has a Bee Problem, and the Local Media are Buzzing

Area media are abuzz over a La Grange Park resident's bee problem.

What first appeared as a cloud of dust to Lorna Shaw, a resident of the Forest Glen Apartments in La Grange Park, turned out to be something a little more disconcerting when she took another look: bees, and thousands of them.

See our photo gallery for some of Shaw's pictures.

To make matters worse, the bees were creeping into her apartment as well. Shaw told the Doings that she probably swatted 100 bees since two Sundays ago when they first appeared. Since then, and a twice-stung boyfriend later, Shaw had to relocate temporarily to a nearby hotel.

Maintenance workers for the apartment complex sealed up the hole on the outside with silicone, which just led to the bees looking for another way out—and into Shaw's apartment. Last Friday, maintenance crews finally made a hole in Shaw's wall and removed the nest.

Earlier this week, NBC5 Chicago News picked up the story as well. Check out Shaw's video here, and just listen to that buzz!
