LT's Lion Newspaper and WLTL Radio Earn National Recognition
A staff member on Lyons Township High School's Lion Newspaper and the school's WLTL radio station each won national recognition recently.

Two of Lyons Township High School's media clubs received national recognition recently. A student staff member of the school's Lion Newspaper received a national award and the school's radio station, WLTL, was honored again at the Communication Awards.
Mary Cate Most Takes 3rd Place for the Lion Newspaper
LT junior Mary Kate Most earned third place in the Environment Category of the 2012 National Federation of Press Women High School Communications Contest. Her in-depth story, Drug Drive Prevents Abuse, Pollution, also between students in Illinois. Most will be honored at the High School Communications Contest Awards Luncheon in September at the federation's national conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

WLTL Takes Home Three Awards in Tough Competition
WLTL, LT's student run radio station located on your radio dial at 88.1 FM, will be honored again at the Communicator Awards national competition. WLTL won three awards of distinction this year, meaning student's work placed in the top 10-20 percent of those entered in the contest.

The Communicator Awards receives thousands of entries each year from across the United States and around the world and is not limited to student radio stations. The competition is open to all broadcasters, commercial production houses and advertising agencies and is judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts.
This year's award winning work was entered by: Alex Roman, a senior from Western Springs; Camille Suknovich, a junior from La Grange; and Christine Pond, a junior from La Grange, for their WLTL Thanksgiving On-Air Promo.
Pond also won an award for a public service announcement on internet safety and another student, Collin Thomas, a junior from Willow Springs, was also a winner for his program on sound effects.
