LT Summer Driver Registration Underway

What teen doesn't look forward to one day getting handed the keys to the family vehicle. To the get there, they'll have to get their learner's permit, complete the state's required hours of driving and take their driving test at the DMV.

can help. For teens looking to take the class over the summer, the high school offers a summer school driver's education course to help them on their way.

Students must be at least 15 to enroll—the birth certificate cut-off date is Dec. 31, 1996 for this summer's course. They also need to have passed eight classes in their previous two semesters. Eligible students can register until April 13, by calling the Driver Education office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. by calling at 708-579-6573, or contacting Terri Welge via email at twelge@lths.net.

Classes will begin on June 11 and will end July 6. Students will need to be careful to not miss a class, or they will not pass due to the secretary of state's hourly requirements.

And don't worry, mom and dad. At least you'll have someone to help you pick the younger siblings from soccer practice.
