Nazareth Academy to Hold Memorial Service for John Michalek

A memorial prayer service for teacher John Michalek has been planned for July 10, according to Principal Deb Tracy.

Michalek, 62, of Berwyn, was a social studies teacher and coach at the La Grange Park school for 35 years, on June 28.

Michalek owned a lake house there and enjoyed frequent trips to the lake to boat, Tracy said. He was planning to move to a part-time position for the new school year in the fall.

With its prayer service, Nazareth will honor the life of a teacher who has been described as a great mentor and role model to students. The prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. in the , 1515 W. Ogden Ave., in La Grange Park.

Nazareth Academy is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory high school serving families from 55 communities and 98 grade schools in Chicago and the western suburbs.
