Plymouth Place La Grange Releases November Calendar
As the weather gets colder, check out some of these events to stay active.
Plymouth Place Senior Living has announced their November events lineup, and we have the scoop. All events are free and open to the public — not just senior citizens! — but reservations are requested. Mondays: (No class 11/21) Great Courses: Skyline Lounge 4:00 p.m.: This month’s course “How to Listen to and Understand Great Music” continues.
Thursdays, 11/3, 10, 17, (No class 11/24), Bible Study, Education Room. 2:00-3:00 p.m. Job: When good things happen, is it a sign of God’s blessing? When bad things happen, is it a sign that we have lost God’s favor? This group is led by Chaplain Carol and you are welcome to join at any time.

Friday, 11/4: Steve Cooper’s Big Band Memories, Dole Hall. 3:00 p.m. Musician, band leader and historian Cooper presents rare films, videos and stories of the greatest big bands and singers of all time.
Monday, 11/7: Tea at Two with Lynn Rymarz Book Review, Dole Hall. 2:00 p.m. Book review by Lynn Rymarz - Julia Child: My Life in France. Program while you enjoy tea and cookies.

Wednesday, 11/9: Music with Singer Chris Colletti, Albert Hall. 2:30 p.m. Chris Colletti will be here to sing some of your favorite musical pieces!
Thursday, 11/10: Cruise to Cameroon, Dole Hall. 3:00 p.m. Our cruise around the world destination this month is to Cameroon. Enjoy a travelogue. Residents are welcome share any stories and memorabilia you may have and bring your passport for your stamp. Enjoy a treat from this country.
Thursday, 11/10: Art Exhibit Reception, LL Art Gallery. 4:00 p.m. Tribute to Veterans Exhibit will include resident and Staff Photos of family members in the military. Individuals will share stories about their pictures. Refreshments served.
Friday, 11/11: HealthPro Wellness Seminar, LL Fitness. 9:30 a.m. “Standing Tall: How Does Your Posture Stand Up?” Posture clinic to screen overall posture and provide education on the importance of good posture and address issues of pain and weakness.
Friday, 11/11: Veteran’s Day Program, Dole Hall. 3:00 p.m. Join us for a special program honoring all our veterans. The Plymouth Place choir will sing a few numbers and there will be a video of Paul Watt’s recent Honor Flight.
Friday, 11/11 & Saturday 11/12: LATTE Theater presents "Gas Light," Dole Hall Friday 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. Join the LATTE Theater as they present Gas Light a Gothic thriller that is brilliant, suspenseful! Some dreams are too good to be true... When all appears the essence of Victorian bliss and tranquility... Yet can the devoted husband, Mr. Jack Manningham, a suavely handsome man, be slowly driving his gentle, devoted wife Bella, to the brink of insanity? Our own Plymouth Place Players will also be performing three classic Edgar Allen Poe stories. $5 students and seniors, $12 adults, ($10 pre-purchase). Call 708-655-0989 for information.
Sunday, 11/13: Music with Edizon Dayao, Albert Hall. 2:00 p.m. Edizon Dayao will be here to perform some music that will bring you down memory lane.
Tuesday, 11/15: Ice Cream Social with Singer Joe Fire, Albert Hall. 2:15 p.m.
Tuesday, 11/15: In the Footprints of Francis and the Sultan: A Model for Peacemaking, Education Room 3:00-4:00 p.m. Francis of Assisi (1181?-1226) is known for helping the poor, the environment and animals. He was also a peacemaker. Francis and the Sultan is a 48 minute documentary about Francis’ trip to the Middle East in 1219, where he met with Egyptian Sultan Malek al-Kamil. Francis and the Sultan learned that they had common interests: God, prayer, and charity. Join Chaplain Carol to view the documentary and to discuss what it might mean for interfaith relationships today.
Wednesday, 11/16: Sam Mitrani: History of the Chicago Police Department, Dole Hall. 4:00 p.m. Welcome College of DuPage professor Sam Mirrani as he shares the history of the Chicago Police Department.
Wednesday, 11/16: Generations: Life of the Human Brain, Dole Hall. 7:15 p.m. Our Generations Family Education Program continues with session by Dr. Neal Bowen PSY.D: Disorders of the Brain – What Can Go Wrong? Dr. Bowan presents an interactive discussion unraveling mysteries of the brain. Friends and family welcome.
Thursday, 11/17: Party with Singer Heather Braoudakis, Margaret Bailey Lounge. 2:00 p.m. Heather returns with her “Feeling Groovy” musical revue of the 50s, 60s and more. Refreshments served.
Thursday, 11/17: Residents’ Council presents Classical Guitarist, Jason Deroche, Dole Hall. 7:15 p.m. Jason Deroche, classical guitarist fuses Old World tradition with an understanding of pop culture, playing everything from Bach to the Beatles. He will be accompanied by violinist Sherri Framborg Deroche bringing us the duo known as Ten Strings. Several residents have heard Mr. Deroche and requested bringing him to Plymouth Place for all of you to enjoy!

Saturday, 11/19: Cochlear Implant, Dole Hall. Come learn about the new advances in Cochlear implants and the miraculous improvements in hearing.
Monday, 11/21: Joseph Standing Bear Schranz: "Plight of the Native Americans," Dole Hall. 1:00 p.m. “Plight of the Native Americans” by Joseph Standing Bear Schranz, a member of the OJIVWE Tribe, from the White Earth Reservation. He will share his knowledge of Native Americans’ culture and their environmental concerns. Items made by Native Americans will be available for purchase after the program.
Monday, 11/21: Monday, 12/7: Lyric Opera of Chicago Lecture, Skyline Lounge. 3:00 p.m. This month’s lecture will be on “Don Quichotte”. Come and enjoy a lecture by volunteer lecturer Carla Thorpe as she discusses the history of the show and play select pieces of the opera. The lecture precedes the performance at the Lyric Opera of Chicago this week. All are Welcome.

Thursday, 11/24: Thanksgiving Worship, Dole Hall. 10:00 a.m. Gather to express gratitude to God and neighbor for all the blessings we have given and received.
Friday, 11/25: LT Model UN Speech, Education Room. 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, 11/26: Ragtime Pianist Regiald Robinson, Dole Hall. 7:15 p.m. Welcome Ragtime pianist and Composer Reginal Robinson for his first appearance at Plymouth Place. A self-taught pianist and composer, Reginald began his professional career in 1992. His concert performances include the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, the Muntu Dance Theater and his Chicago-based band, the 5th Element.
Monday, 11/28: Pray the Rosary, Albert Hall. 10:30 p.m.
Monday, 11/28: Advanced Care for Seniors, Education Room. 1:00 p.m. Kathleen Ulrich, audiologist from Hear USA Hearing Care Professional returns with program “All About Ears, Can You Hear the Birds/”. Also included are free hearing screening and hearing aids cleaned.
Monday, 11/28: Singer Kym Frankoveglia, Albert Hall. 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, 11/29: Winter Safety by Providence Home Care, LL Game Room. 10:30 a.m. Karen McGreal and Mary Konieczny present Winter Safety while walking and driving this winter.
Tuesday, 11/29: Ice Cream Social with music by Mike Pleska, Albert Hall. 2:15 p.m. Join Mike Pleska who will play a variety of music on many different instruments.
Wednesday, 11/30: Drumming Circle, Albert Hall. 2:00 p.m.
