Attempted Child Abduction Falsely Reported At Lemont Carnival: Police

LEMONT, IL — UPDATE: This incident was found to be falsely reported by Lemont Police.
ORIGINAL STORY: Lemont Police are looking for more information about a suspect they say attempted to grab a child at a carnival in Lemont on Friday night.
Police said a man wrapped his arms around the child, but the child was able to get away at the SS. Cyril and Methodius Summer Fest, at 607 Sobieski St., around 9:15 p.m. Friday night.

The suspect is described as a slightly heavy-set white man, with bald or buzzed-cut hair and a brown beard. He was wearing a green T-shirt and jeans, police said.
Police are asking residents who live in the area or who attended the carnival to check their photos or videos for the man. Anyone with information can contact the Lemont Police Department at 630-257-2226.
