Bluff Road Shut Down Due to Icy Conditions
The season's first substantial snowfall has caused "slick conditions" on local roads, but no traffic-related incidents, according to Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy.

As of 7:30 a.m., Bluff Road—located between Lemont Road and Joliet Road in Romeoville—has been shut down due to dangerous driving conditions, Shaughnessy said.

According to a special statement from the National Weather Service, snowfall is expected to taper off around 8 a.m. Skies will become mostly sunny; the high is 28 degrees.
The statement urged motorists to be aware of slick road conditions and allow extra time for morning travel.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Friday now ties 1948 as the fifth-latest date for the first measurable snow in the Chicago area. The record is Dec. 16, 1965.
As of 7 a.m., there was about a half inch of snow measured in Romeoville, the Chicago Tribune reports.
