Dec. 28: Citizen's Police Academy, Athlete of the Week

2. Citizen's Police Academy
The and the Illinois State Police will host a combined Citizen's Police Academy in 2012. The class, which runs Jan. 25 through March 14, will be broken down into eight, two-hour training sessions from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The registration deadline is Jan. 4. There is no fee for the program, but space is limited. To apply, contact Lemont Police Sgt. Therese Thompson at 630-257-2229 or email tthompson@lemont.il.us.
3. Library Card Game
The , 50 E. Wend St., is hosting an evening of card games Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Children ages 9-11 are invited to bring their own cards or use the library's, and enter in a round robin tournament. The top two winners will receive gift cards to Target.

Juozas Balciunas is this week's nominee for Athlete of the Week. He is up against athletes from Naperville, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Hinsdale and Downers Grove.
