Dec. 9: LHS Holiday Concerts, Shopping Events, Locks of Love

Five things every Lemonter needs to know Friday.

At 7 p.m. Friday, the concert band and freshman/sophomore choir will perform a number of popular holiday songs, including "Wonderful Christmastime," "When You Believe" and "It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas."

At 3 p.m. Sunday, the symphonic band will perform pieces like "A Mariah Carey Christmas" and "Away in the Manger," while the junior/senior choir will peform the Led Zeppelin classic "Stairway to Heaven" and the newer favorite "Candy Cane Lane." The groups will team up for a performance of "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

Admission to either concert is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring canned or paper goods to donate to the local food pantries.

3. Holiday Shopping Events

From Midnight Madness to Holiday Bazaars, Lemont has plenty of shopping events this weekend for residents looking to make a dent in their holiday gift list. For complete details, .

4. Locks of Love

A "Locks of Love" event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the , 115 Stephen St.

Hair donations must be at least 10 inches. Hair may be permed, dyed or gray, but not bleached. All donors eill receive a free shampoo, haircut and/or style.

5. Lemont Firefighters Food Drive

The Firefighters Local 3966 will host a "Fill The Fire Engine" food drive for the Lemont Food Pantries on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The firefighters and their families will be outside , 1100 State St., collecting food for those in need. The goal for this year is to "fill the fire engine."
