25-Year-Old Killed In Explosion At Seneca Petroleum In Lemont
A second person was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, officials said.

LEMONT, IL — A 25-year-old man from Homewood was killed in an explosion Tuesday morning at Seneca Petroleum Co., 12460 New Ave., in Lemont, the Will County Coroner's Office said.
A second victim was also taken to an area hospital, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.
The coroner's office identified the man killed as Dru Worker, of Homewood. He was pronounced dead at 11:05 a.m. at Seneca Petroleum, the coroner's office said. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

The explosion may have occurred in an asphalt tank, the sheriff's office said in a news release, adding that fire officials do not believe there are any hazardous materials involved in the incident.
Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and ComEd were called to the scene, and the blast has downed some power lines near the facility, the sheriff's office said.

The explosion was not at the Lemont CITGO refinery, which is also located off New Avenue.
