Free Paper Shredding Event Planned For June 20 In Lemont

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 12750 Archer Ave. in Lemont.

LEMONT, IL—Do you have any old documents you need to safely get rid of? If so, you're in luck. Lemont Township will host a free paper shredding event on June 20.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 12750 Archer Ave. in Lemont.

Participants are asked to limit two to three boxes per household.

Shredding old documents is one way to protect personal, confidential information and minimize ID theft.

Last year, of the 3.2 million identity theft and fraud reports received in 2019 by the Federal Trade Commission, 1.7 million were fraud-related, about 900,000 were other consumer complaints and about 651,000 were identity theft complaints.
