Wildfire Smoke, Hot Weather To Start Week In Illinois Before Big Change Is Coming
Temperatures could approach 90 degrees early this week, and stormy weather is likely on its way. Here's when.
ILLINOIS — The week will start warm, and once again will have hazy skies due to smoke from Canadian wildfires, according to the National Weather Service.
After Tuesday, the weather will change as a cold front moves across the area.
"A cold front will bring showers and some storms across the area Tuesday night, with cooler conditions and periods of rain expected on Wednesday," the weather service said.

Monday will have a high of 86, and the smoke from wildfires will produce hazy skies through Monday night. Tuesday will be windy, with a high of 88.

Storms are possible Tuesday night, and again on Wednesday. A few storms could be strong with locally heavy rain Tuesday night into Wednesday, the weather service said.

Wednesday will be the coolest day of the week, with temps in the 60s north of Interstate 80, and in the 70s south of I-80, according to the weather service.
The chance of rain begins Wednesday night, and chances will continue through both Thursday and Friday. Thursday will have a high of 77, and Friday a high of 78, according to the weather service.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
MONDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. South wind around 10 mph.
TUESDAY: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
WEDNESDAY: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then showers likely. High near 68. West southwest wind around 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.
THURSDAY: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
THURSDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.
FRIDAY: A chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 75.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A chance of showers before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.
