Lemont High School's Annual 8th Grade Open House Set For November

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School, which was the recipient of the Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 2017, will be hosting an open house for eighth-grade students who potentially may be attending the school next year, the district said.

The eighth-annual open house will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 8 and provides an opportunity for current 8th-grade students and their families to visit campus and meet Lemont High School teachers, counselors, and administrators, the district said.

The high school is located at 800 Porter St. in Lemont.

Any incoming student who lives within the school’s attendance boundaries, or who will live within those boundaries during the 2024-25 school year, is encouraged to take advantage of the “sneak peek” the open house provides.

Lemont High School’s attendance boundaries include Lemont and portions of Darien, Downers Grove, and Woodridge. Students and their families will have the chance to learn about the fine academic and extra-curricular programs offered by Lemont High School. Prospective students and their families may visit various areas throughout the building as well, including athletic facilities, the Performing Arts Center, and the CITGO Innovation Academy.

Individuals with disabilities who need accommodations are encouraged to call the school’s main line at (630) 257-5838 in advance to make arrangements. The 8th Grade Open House will begin in the school’s Performing Arts Center, which is located on the southwest side of campus

There will be no placement exam for the Class of 2028.

Course placements will be made based on standardized test scores that are provided to the school by students’ grade schools. The “High School Recruitment” section in the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Handbook for School Administrators places restrictions on the relationships that public schools may have with Catholic grade schools.

Specifically, Catholic elementary schools may not:

  • Invite public high schools to Catholic elementary school-sponsored high school recruitment events.
  • Provide an opportunity for public high schools to hold placement tests on their campuses
  • Distribute promotional materials from public high schools

Parents or guardians of Catholic or private school students who are considering attending Lemont High School next year are encouraged to visit the school’s 8th-grade Open House on November 8 to learn more about the wealth of opportunities Lemont High School offers its student population.

Parents or guardians of students who currently are enrolled in any private school but are considering attending Lemont High School next year are encouraged to visit the school’s website and either click on the “Enroll” button at the top of the home page or visit the “New Student Enrollment” page under the ‘Student Services’ tab.

Once there, parents or guardians should follow the instructions for non-Old Quarry Middle School students.
