Lemont Historical Society To Host 'Chicken S#!t Raffle'

LEMONT, IL—Forget about why the chicken crossed the road. Where will the chicken poop is the bigger question. The Lemont Area Historical Society and Museum aims to answer that question during it's highly anticipated fundraiser simply called, "Chicken S#!t Raffle."

"The most entertaining and ridiculous raffle you have ever witnessed!" the society wrote on its website. "Buy some tickets, help the Lemont Area Historical Society and be entertained all from home."

Tickets range from $10 to $40 dollars and participants have a chance to win anywhere from $200 to $800. The raffle will air live on the historical society's Facebook page on June 20.

How the game works

According to the Lemont Area Historical Society, the concept of the game is rather simple. The floor of a 4’ x 8’ chicken pen will be made up of a large board with 40 set numbered squares, which kind of resembles a bingo card.

For each game, society members will put a chicken in the pen where its feed will be spread throughout. This is where it gets exciting, according to the society. As everyone taking part sits, waits and watches the chicken poop, a live commentator will discuss what kind of "strategy" he thinks the chicken is using. Once she dumps, the society's impartial judge will officially call the number(s). Who knew watching a chicken poop could be so exciting?!

Rules of the game

1. Entrant must me 18 years of age and live in the state of Illinois.

2. There are 40 set numbers on the board that are used for each game

3. There will be 3 games each with a different buy in amount.

*Game one will have $10 squares. One winner can win up to $200

*Game two will have $20 squares. One winner can win up to $400

*Game three will have $40 squares. One winner can win up to $800

4. The number the chicken poops on, or the majority of the poop will be the winner as determined by our impartial judge. If the chicken poops on a line or corner between 2, 3, or 4 numbers and it is unclear which number has the majority of poop, the impartial judge can call that one, some or all the numbers are winners and the winnings will be divided evenly between the person’s with the designated numbers.

5. Each entry will be given a number by a randomized computer generator 1 through 40 that will be emailed to you once all 40 squares are sold.

6. For each of the three games, once the society sells 40 squares for the first card (Card A), it will continue to sell squares for Card B, then continue to Card C, etc. up to ten cards (letter J) for each game (400 squares max per game) The winning number will be the same for each card in that game. Example: The society sells 120 squares for the $40 game. Since there are 120 squares there would be three (3) cards for that game. If the chicken poops solely on #32, Number 32 would be the winner for Card A, B & C and each winner on those cards would receive $800.

7. There is a service charge attached to each ticket purchased.

8. This is a 50/50 raffle which means half of the net proceeds raised goes to Lemont Area Historical Society and the other half goes to the winner(s) of each game.
