Lemont Park District Seeks Applicants for Open Board Seat

The Board of Commissioners is looking to replace Vice President Mike Colaizzi, who will step down next month to pursue a new career opportunity.

The is seeking applicants to replace departing Vice President Mike Colaizzi on its board of commissioners.

Last week, Lemont Park District spokesperson Carrie Dellamano announced that in order to pursue a new career opportunity. He will officially step down April 30, the last day of the current fiscal year.

Park District President Patrick Sexton is now accepting resumes for those interested in filling the position.

“Looking ahead, we are pleased that another Lemont resident will have the opportunity to serve as a member on the Lemont Park District Board of Commissioners," Sexton said in a press release. "It is truly a very rewarding experience to see when a positive difference is made and embraced by the community."

According to the release, park district commissioners are expected "to develop policies; devise long-range plans, procedures and regulations for operations of the agency; monitor finances; and serve as a voting member." All board members are expected to attend monthly meetings, participate on various committees, attend standing committee meetings if a member, attend board retreats and in-service workshops, and attend and participate in special events.

"Members must be well-informed and aware of the needs of the community, participate in organizational decision-making, assume leadership roles in all board activities, represent the organization to the public and private industry, and contribute skills and experience when appropriate," the release states.
