Lemont Police to Conduct Roadside Safety Checks over St. Patrick's Day Weekend
The Lemont Police Department will crack down on impaired drivers and unbelted motorists as part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.

The will conduct roadside safety checks and safety enforcement zones throughout the St. Patrick's Day holiday weekend, village officials announced Thursday.
The crackdown coincides with the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns, which target impaired and unbuckled motorists.
"Our message is simple—drive sober, or get pulled over," said Lemont Police Sft. Joe Miller. "We encourage anyone planning on drinking alcohol to be responsible and designate a sober driver. With checkpoints, roving patrols, undercover officers and concerned citizens, chances are if you drive impaired you will be arrested."

"Designating a driver can save you from the embarrassment of getting a DUI, losing your license, spending time in jail, paying fines and penalties, and—most importantly—prevent senseless death," Miller added.
The enhanced enforcement is made possible through federal traffic safety funds from the Illinois Department of Education's Division of Traffic Safety.
