LHS Sophomore Makes IHSA Girls’ Tennis State Finals Debut
Biscan's performance matches the second-best effort for a Lemont girls' tennis player in IHSA State Finals competition.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont High School sophomore Maggie Biscan enjoyed a successful debut at the 2025 IHSA Class 1A Girls’ Tennis State Finals, which were contested from Oct. 23-25, LHS shared in a news release. Biscan won three of five matches and reached the fourth consolation round.
Biscan opened the state finals with a straight sets loss. However, she rebounded with three consecutive straight sets victories of her own, topping foes from Chatham Glenwood, Chicago F.W. Parker, and Marian Central Catholic, according to LHS. Her state finals trip ended with a loss in the fourth consolation round.
Biscan’s performance matches the second-best effort for a Lemont girls’ tennis player in IHSA State Finals competition. Jessica Urban ‘10 reached the fourth consolation round in 2007 as Lemont’s first-ever state qualifier, and Grace Horky ‘19 matched that finish in 2017, according to LHS. Amanda Lopykinski ‘22 posted the best state finals finish for a Lemont tennis player, reaching the quarterfinal round and placing among the top players in the state in 2018. Horky and Maggie O’Brien ‘19 put up Lemont’s best state finals finish in doubles, reaching the fifth consolation round in 2018.

Biscan reached the state finals after placing among the top four at the IHSA Hinsdale South Sectional, which featured two players who went on to become top 16 seeds at the state finals, according to LHS. Biscan won her first two matches to clinch her state finals berth, but dropped her semifinal and third-place matches in three-set contests. Her semifinal loss was to the sectional runner-up who was seeded among the 9-16 seeds at the state finals.
Biscan finished the season with a 24-8 record, LHS said. She repeated as champion in the No. 1 singles flight at the South Suburban Conference-Blue Division meet, helping head coach Chris Hill’s team to its 20th straight SSC Blue title, and its 21st consecutive conference championship overall dating back to 2005.
