Final Weekend to Enjoy Local Restaurants' Lenten Specials

Now that the Lenten season is upon us, it's time to feast on some of the best meatless entrees in the area. From pepper and egg sandwiches to fish and chips, local businesses have plenty to offer.

Here's a quick guide to Lenten specials in Darien, Lemont and Woodridge.

Darien

Teddy's Red Hots, 737 Plainfield Road

Pepper and egg sandwiches are $4.99 all day Wednesday and Friday.

Lemont

Lenten specials include gourmet grilled cheese, seared ahi tuna salad, pepper and egg sandwich, blackened Cajun shrimp po'boy, Baja shrimp tacos, and Allagash White Ale fish and chips.

Meatless appetizers include cheese or veggie pizza and a ceviche tostada. Customers are encouraged to add sauteed shrimp, beer-battered cod, portabella mushrooms or spinach and cheese to any of their favorite dishes (tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, tostadas, enchiladas, chimichangas, burritos). 

On Fridays, the Cantina's lunch special is "Tacos on the Beach," which are served with sauteed Newfoundland Turbot or shrimp.

Offers a pepper and egg sandwich with fries, a fish sandwich, shrimp basket, veggie burgers, grilled cheese and pizza.
