2. IHSA Playoffs in Lemont
The varsity boys soccer and football teams each have big IHSA playoff games Friday — and both are at home. The soccer team will play Bremen for the Class 2A sectional championship at 6 p.m. at the Lemont High School Sports Complex, 131st Street and Bell Road, while the football team kicks off its 2011 playoff run against Morgan Park at 7 p.m. at the high school football stadium, 800 Porter St.
3. Veterans Drive
The , 50 E. Wend St., is partnering with the Women's Auxiliary of the and the Rotary Club of Lemont-Homer Glen to collect and distribute items requested by veterans at Hines Hospital and Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.
These organizations are in need of cleaning supplies, paper products, linens, gift cards and office supplies. Details are included in these wish lists: Hines VA Hospital Wish List and Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans Wish List.

Donations may be brought to the Circulation Desk during regular library hours from Oct. 1 through Nov. 11. For each donation, you will receive on coupon for a free DVD rental or $1 off fines (up to a maximum $10 per account).
4. Halloween Hoedown
The annual will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in historic downtown Lemont. The event will feature a costume parade and contest, trick-or-treating, games, face painting, hayrides and more.

5. Adult Scavenger Hunt and Costume Party
The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The scavenger hunt will begin at Belle de Jour In Style, 114 Stephen St., and end with a costume party and contest, food and music at Stone House Pub, 103 Stephen St.
