The snow silently coating glittering tree lights has no effect on their brightness, and Old Quarry's National Junior Honor Society's benevolence is, by no means dwindling either. The society's goals have maintained a secure charisma of warmth and good will, hoping to melt away holiday stresses of local and global organizations.
Recently, National Junior Honor Society eighth-grade students have applied themselves to a weekly peer coaching session. The activity has provided a fresh outlook on peer support and earned the respect of fifth, sixth-and seventh-grade Old Quarry students.
A stocking's worth of volunteer endeavors have also been completed by NJHS members, including a toiletry collection for soldiers at war, a community toy drive, PTO funding through Market Day assistance, a pop tab collection, a cleanup of teachers' rooms, Shutter Shade Sales, Shop 'til You Drop raffle sales, the Lemont Public Library's art show, book sales, , , and Oakwood School teacher assistance.
National Junior Honor Society is anticipating further community service for Lemont residents. Happy New Year Family Fun Day, Feed My Starving Children and the Quarryman Challenge pose as future NJHS endeavors.
For now, our concentration on local organizations and Lemont community members provides a rewarding opportunity to share the holiday spirit.
