The Vault to Hold Grand Opening Celebration

The downtown Lemont cafe and bar will offer a number of food and drink specials Friday, and will host village officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m.

The , which opened quietly this fall, will hold an official grand opening to show off its food and drink selection, as well as its rich ties to Lemont's past.

To celebrate, the Vault will offer a number of food and drink specials throughout the day Friday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m.

The restaurant was opened by brothers Al, Bach and Jim Sulemani in September. The concept comes from the building's former life as a bank, which was robbed in 1929. Inside, patrons can see the original vault behind the bar, as well as the wall furnishings and ceiling decorations from the start of the 20th century.

The menu is focused on American cuisine, with specialty flat bread pizzas, burgers, wings, paninis and salads — along with an extensive bar menu and specialty drinks. Weekly specials include "Wine Down Wednesdays" with $3 glasses of house wines.

"We wanted to provide downtown Lemont with a fun, hip place to meet and dine with friends and family," Bach Sulemani said in a news release. "We were waiting for the perfect location and found it in downtown Lemont. It’s a beautiful place with a lot of history.”

The brothers said they are excited to join the downtown Lemont community.

“We’re happy to be a part of the growth of this area and think it’s going to continue to blossom,” Bach Sulemani said. “The more businesses that open, the better it is for all of us. The mayor and everyone at the village have been terrific to work with and very supportive.”

Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves said he is pleased with the influx of new businesses in the downtown area over the past year.

“The momentum we are seeing is great, as we have new residents and an array of new businesses to serve them in the downtown area now,” Reaves said. “... What the Sulemani brothers have done with The Vault is really impressive. They’ve done an amazing job refurbishing the inside to give it the old bank look and feel; that building has a ton of character.”

The Vault is open for lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight, with the kitchen open until 9 p.m.; and Friday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., with the kitchen open until 10 p.m.
