Whiz Kids: Trojan Hockey Club

Each week, Lemont Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

Whiz Kids' Schools: , Downers Grove North, Lisle, Bolingbrook and Romeoville high schools

Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: On Monday, Dec. 12, the Trojan Hockey Club took over the Lemont Kohl's to shop for families in need of extra help this holiday season. Each player donated $10 or more, then helped shop for several kids' Christmas gifts. Items purchased included shoes, socks, pants, pajamas and T-shirts.

Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: The shopping trip has become an annual tradition for the team, which is composed of 18 players from Lemont, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Lisle and Downers Grove North high schools. It's organized by Lemont resident Debbie Zaremski, whose son Tyler plays for the Trojans.

Each year, Zaremski and a group of friends adopt several Lemont families for Christmas. Last year, they had the idea to get the hockey team involved.
