Man, 30, Found Dead Near Metra Tracks Identified: Coroner

The 30-year-old Mundelein man was killed by an outbound Metra train on Friday morning.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the 30-year-old man killed after being struck by a train in Libertyville last week.

Allen Chiquini, of Mundelein, died from blunt force injuries consistent with being struck with a train, according to preliminary results from an autopsy performed by the coroner's office.

A crew member from an outbound Metra train spotted Chiquini's body along the train tracks at about 5:30 p.m. on Friday and stopped the train to report the incident, according to the coroner's office news release.

Authorities responded and found him unresponsive in the area of Ellis Avenue and Winchester Road. Chiquini was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meg Thomas-Reile, public relations manager for Metra, said Metra police have not been able to determine the exact circumstances that lead to Chiquini’s death and it’s not clear if a Metra train, or a different train, hit him.
