2 Hospitalized After Car Involved In Crash Smashes Into House, Catches Fire: Lisle Police

After the first crash, one car left the roadway and struck a house, requiring emergency crews to extricate a victim from the vehicle.

LISLE, IL — A car left the road and crashed into a house, catching fire Thursday afternoon following an initial crash on Route 53 near Lacey Avenue, Lisle police said.

According to police, Lisle Police and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to the first crash on Route 53 just after noon. After that crash, one of the vehicles left the road and struck a home on the west side of Route 53. Upon hitting the house, police said there was a "minor fire" in the engine compartment, which was extinguished while crews extricated a person from the vehicle.

The fiery crash closed part of Route 53 in both directions for roughly 90 minutes while emergency crews worked.

Two people involved in the crash were taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Police said Route 53 reopened once the vehicles were towed from the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
