Lisle Cops Urge Sober, Safe Driving For Halloween

Police in Lisle say they will be out in full force looking for drunk and impaired drivers this Halloween.

LISLE, IL —Lisle police are urging drivers to stay sober this Halloween season. Officers will be out in full force patrolling for drunk and impaired drivers as Oct. 31 approaches, according to a news release from the Lisle Police Department.

“Alcohol and cannabis impair your ability to drive safely,” Sergeant William Wise said in a statement. “That’s why it’s crucial to plan how you’ll get home before you head out – whether you’ll be drinking or using any other substance. And don’t forget to wear your seat belt every trip, every time. Planning ahead, driving sober, and buckling up can help keep you and others safe.”

Lisle police recommend taking the following safety precautions:

  • Get a ride from a designated driver who is sober
  • Take public transit
  • Call a cab or use a rideshare service
  • Wear your seatbelt
  • Don't let friends drive impaired
  • Call police if you see an impaired driver on the road
  • If you're walking, make sure you're joined by a sober friend

The Lisle Police Department's crackdown is part of a statewide safety initiative supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
