UPDATE: 3 Dead, 3 Hurt In Manhattan Township Vehicle Crash: Police

The crash happened Saturday evening at U.S. Route 52 and Baker Road, according to Illinois State Police.

MANHATTAN TOWNSHIP, IL — Three people were killed and three others were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries Saturday in Manhattan Township following a two-vehicle crash, according to Illinois State Police.

The Will County Coroner's Office initially reported at around 4 a.m. Sunday that two males had died in the crash.

Police responded at approximately 10:25 p.m. Saturday to the crash at U.S. Route 52 and Baker Road in Manhattan Township, according to ISP.

Police closed U.S. Route 52 at Baker Road to investigate the crash, according to ISP. The road was reopened at approximately 3 a.m., police said.

The names of those killed and injured was not provided by ISP or the Will County Coroner's Office.

The names are being withheld at this time because the office is trying to identify them and notify the families, the Coroner's Office said.

Illinois State Police are investigating the accident, according to the Coroner's Office.

The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date, pending the results of the ISP investigation, autopsy and toxicological reports, the Coroner's Office said.
