Bad Humor: Unwanted Ice Cream Man Intrudes on Naperville Polo Fields

Who doesn't like the ice cream man? The manager of the Naperville Polo Fields, that's who.

The manager of the Naperville Polo Fields called the cops on the ice cream man but the unwanted sweets salesman took off in his truck before the law arrived, police said.

Will County deputies arrived at the polo fields on 119th Street shortly before 1: 30 p.m. Sunday and spoke with the manager, police said, and he told them an ice cream man in a white Ford van “has been given several warnings to stay off the property as it is privately owned by the Naperville Polo Club Incorporated.”

“Deputies have been called there in the past and have warned the driver,” police said. “Numerous ‘No Trespassing’ signs are visible on the property.”

But despite all of these measures, on Sunday, the ice cream man was back, police said. He reportedly “drove around the fence in the parking lot and onto the grass where children were playing soccer.”

The manager was “concerned for the safety of the children,” police said, and he “told the driver to leave” the polo fields.

As the ice cream man departed, he “allegedly yelled racial epithets” at the manager, police said.
